DHCS Certification is the official recognition granted by the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) that a program meets the required standards to provide substance use disorder (SUD) treatment services in compliance with Title 9 of the California Code of Regulations.
Certification is:
- Mandatory for all outpatient SUD treatment programs (e.g., IOP, PHP, OP, MAT)
- Optional but highly recommended for residential facilities already licensed by DHCS
